Boo! Halloween is coming!
This will be my first real celebration of Halloween since I moved in the UK. I didn’t celebrate it last year, but now I have moved into a house on the ground floor, and I can actually put decorations and greet little scary kids, so I am really looking forward to the 31st of October.
Do you have any tips for me, as a first time celebrator?
In the postcard that Anouk sent me from The Netherlands, he writes that he hates Halloween, because he is easily scared.
And here I am, not really sure what to do, and how to properly celebrate it. I shall put decorations in front of my house, and a pumpkin, which symbolizes that you want kids knocking on your door. I have already bought candies and a lot of little surprises, and I am all hyped up, even though there are 3 weeks to go until Halloween actually comes.
What is your experience with Halloween? I am looking forward to hearing your answers 🙂
I really like Halloween. Haunted Houses, Pumpkin Patches, Trick-or-Treating, Halloween Candy, Pumpkin Lattes, Halloween Horror Movies (I am not easily scared) on TV and Autumnal Colors. Don’t forget about the Halloween decorations (string lights are great!), something twinkly and spooky. Spider webs are always good for a creepy vibe! Decorations on the porch to welcome trick or treaters. You could always dress up as a Victoria ghost (a tattered prom dress and some skeleton makeup kit or white body and face paint ) and stare out your living room window.

I live in the south east of England, and I can count on the fingers of one hand, how many trick or treaters I get round. So, I would check with your neighbours that something happens. Otherwise you could end up like us eating sweets all the way up to Christmas
Aww.. That sounds sad. I will make sure to decorate from this weekend on, then, so everyone would know I am planning on celebrating 😀

I hope so, we only managed 5 houses last year, so I may have to take my son to a different area
We live w-a-a-a-y out in the country, and I can count on one hand the number of trick-or-treaters we’ve had here. Two of our granddaughters live where here are loads of little kids, and they get dressed up and actually sit on the porch with a bowl of candy’ it’s a lot easier than constantly opening and closing the door. They have solar lights along their walks and cut the bottoms out of cheap plastic pumpkin to slip over the lights. A house I pass on my way around town has their lawn tractor near the road, with big, plastic skeletons around it. One is sitting on the seat, and two look as if hey are trying to push it.
That is amazing. Too bad my garden is on the back of our house, otherwise, I would have done the same. Sit outside, and greet kids dressed up and with candy 😀
