★★★★

I don’t usually read and review these types of books. I am not the kind of person that reads help books for pleasure. When I need information, I usually only read something I need at the moment, learn a lot about it, and then let go. I don’t go out and buy books for it.

But, with this book, it was different.

For some of you, that know me better, I used to train karate since I was a child. My father was my coach, and I trained hard, more than four days a week. I was a national champion for 8 years, I went on Balkan, Regional and European Championships, the sport enabling me to travel in more than 15 countries, explore the world and make countless number of friends along the way.

And in my whole journey, there were many experts surrounding me. Firstly, my father, who was my coach, showing me the karate world and teaching me everything I know today. Along his side, other coached, psychologists, gym experts, and nutritionists.

‘’The field of sport nutrition practice is both a science and an art.’’

When it comes to nutrition, it is so easy to get it all wrong, while you think you are doing something healthy to your body. It is so easy to mix good with bad fats, and thinking you eat healthy, to get away from your goal and become disappointed. And that is the sole reason why we need people that really know their nutrition, and dedicate their lives to learning what each ingredient does to our body.

This book focuses on nutrition for sports people. A way of life and healthy eating, while you spend a lot of energy exercising. I could easily relate to this, as I myself have been through all of these phases, of being dehydrated, of needing more fat, of needing more protein and vitamins in my body, without even realising it.

‘’When females perform high-intensity training, their need for carbohydrate is easily as high as that of a male athlete, and they have just as much capacity to utilize and store carbohydrate as a male athlete.’’

In this book, you will find explanations on all subjects that are often asked, you will know what builds muscle, what fuels it. Many popular issues will be covered as well, such as the gluten problem that many people face this days.

I loved the section about fats, as I have been introduced to the keto diet recently, and it was good to read and learn more about how fats work in your body, and what happens when you burn them.

I enjoyed the snack and workout plans, that are also split depending on what you want to achieve, whether that be building muscle, losing fat, or power eating.

‘’Research on sport nutrition in female athletes has long been neglected, but now there is breakthrough scientific knowledge that is changing the game of female athletes, including young girls.’’

If you love working out, and love your healthy food – this is a great book to have along your side, and come back to it from time to time, to remind yourself of everything your body is capable of doing, if you treat it right.

I highly recommend it – I enjoyed it a lot!

How A Good Person Can Really Win – Pavan Choudary [BOOK REVIEW]

I have received ‘’How A Good Person Can Really Win’’ through Goodreads, in exchange for an honest review. I will honestly have to say that I had a very hard time finishing this book, and even that took me months, while I was reading other books inbetween. My full rating is 3 out of 5 stars and here is why:

  • About the book

How a Good Person Can Really Win is a self-help book that is supposed to help the good people to win in life. It is a book that is designed to show you how you can be one of those people that isn’t bad, but still be successful and prosper in life. The book is split into three parts, and it focused on both the bad and the good persona, comparing both sides and pointing out the differences between them.

  • The Good and the Bad

The thing that put me off this book a lot was the focus of the bad person. Yes – I do realise that the book is split into a half bad / half good part, and yes – I do realise that we need to see the difference. But when you consider yourself a good person, and have this book in your hands, that is supposedly made to make you realise how you can win, all you read is about how bad the bad person is, and the response (solution) to this is an advice for the bad man to change.

This has occurred on so many occasions, that made the book feel useless for me.

Even though I have to agree that the ending is focused on the good persona and there are actually a few tips on how you can win over the bad guys – most of the advices were for the bad people to not do those nasty things they keep doing.

So my question to the author here is: Who would be the target audience in the book? The logic answer is – the people that claim themselves as good-makers and believe in a better tomorrow. But what the book says is – a book that tells bad people what they are doing and how that is wrong in 100 different ways. Too bad that those people are not the ones reading the book.

On the other side though, I have to admit that there were many excellent examples of real life, and many situations that were realistic and relatable. There were a few very excellent advices as well, and I am sure that I have learned a few things from this book.

Happy Earth Day 2016

Maybe you remember my post about how I want to become a flower, or a fairy. I got lucky by getting another postcard connected to flowers, this time from Finland. I decided to post it now, because today is a special day. The day of the planet Earth.

Tiina made me remember of flowers again, how lovely they are and how much love they have and share. The whole postcard was filled with flowers, the front, the back, the lovely stamps from flowers from Finland. I can’t forget about the cute cat. It’s impossible hehe .

Today is the day of the planet Earth. It’s not just that. It’s the day of the living stings, the day of the nature, the day of the people. If this planet didn’t exist, we wouldn’t be here right now, and I wouldn’t be writing this, you wouldn’t be reading this.

It is true, and we often forget it. WE DON’T HAVE OTHER PLANET. It’s the only one that we can live in. Let’s overwhelm it with flowers and trees, and a lot of green plants. Let’s make every single building surrounded with colors and fresh smell of nature.

Let’s be happy people, and let’s share our happiness with other people too. Don’t wait for Monday, or January the first. Start now! Go out in the green park, talk to a stranger, give a flower to a random girl, help an old lady cross the street. Forget about evil for a second. No, forget about evil for a year. Share happiness, and happiness will come to you. Be the person you always wanted to be, and I promise, you will fill satisfied and fulfilled.

Always a child in my heart

Don’t forget to always stay a child in your heart!

Sometimes I think about growing up. And no, it doesn’t scare me, it’s just… it’s not how I imagined life. I don’t want worries and fears about tomorrow.

I want a life, like a child has. Not to worry about a single thing, just to live each day like it is the last one! Laugh a lot, do crazy stuff, buy an RV and travel the world. Quit your job, which doesn’t make you happy and go around the world and do what you always wanted to do. Sing, dance, laugh, paint, cook…

And sometimes you realise, you always have the child inside. It is here even now. The childlish me made me write all of this now. Made me think about going somewhere far away and be happy. It is always here that kid we have, we just need to stop for a second and listen…

What does it say?
