A Russian Treasure

Have you ever heard about the famous Russian dolls? I’ll tell you something about them…

The Russian doll, called Matryoshka doll, is a set of wooden dolls, with the same style, but diffenet in size, so they can all fit one into another. It is a part from the Russian tradition, and Matryoshka actually is a diminutive form of the first name “Matryona”.

Traditionally, the first layer is a woman, that is dressed in a  long and shapeless traditional Russian peasant jumper dress , called sarafan. The figures inside the doll may be either man or wife, and it represents a typical Russian family, and the smallest piece of the set is a baby doll.

The dolls are always connected to a certain theme, which is connected to the Russian culture, like the Soviet Leaders theme, or a Russian Fairy-Tale. The Matryoshka doll is also knows as the Babushka doll, and “babushka” means grandmother in Russian.

Thanks to Lana from postcrossing, I got this amazing card. I remembered the days when I had a set of these dolls, and it was a Russian family, with a grandma and grandpa, mom and dad and a small baby, and I used to play so much with them. Now it is rare to find them in Macedonia.

Moscow Kremlin – Russia

A card from Russia again. I love Russia, because it’s full of history and tradition. One of the most popular building is the Moscow Kremlin, which is a symbol of Moscow.

On the picture, you can also see three cathedrals – masterpieces of Russian architecture of the 16th century. Isn’t this postcard lovely.

THANK YOU ARIA, FOR THE AMAZING CARD!

Now I have a question for you, dear readers:

Tell me about a building or a place in your country, that has a lot of history about it. I’d love to hear that 🙂

I love comics and I love Wonder Woman! This card made me so happy today! She is very popular these days, almost as Superman and Batman, and I am very excited about the upcoming movie in 2017.

Have you heard she was born Princess Diana of Themyscira, and also the princess of the Amazons? And she is the daughter of Zeus.

Graziela, thank you for your card!

Fear of moving out

Annette has a fear of moving out. We all do when we’re young. It means new life, new friends, new environment. It is one of scariest things for one kid.

Annette has a fear of moving out.

Annette is a girl from Japan. She sent me this card by  Postcrossing, with the ID of JP-799542 and she told me she’s from Kagashima, Southern Kyusha. Right now, she might, or might not have moved with her family. In the card she was really scared.

Everything is so unsure and my life currently is on hold… 🙁

Annette, let me tell you something. Moving to a new place is not the end of the world. I don’t know whether you moved or not, but moving doesn’t always means a bad thing. It’s not always about losing everything, house, neighbourhood, friends… Sometimes, you have to think on the better side. It means gaining new ones , and that means a new start in your life. It means new friendships, new smiles, and new adventure, that will bring new memories. Don’t say no to life. Don’t say no to destiny. Say yes to the opportunity for something new. Always find the positive side in everything you do.

Always do what you are afraid to do

Ever wondered what you want to achieve the most? Do you know what you want to do in your life? Do you have some idea of how you imagine your perfect life in 10 years? Do you want to find out now? Just think of what scares you. Then you know it’s the thing you want the most. If it terrifies you!

Postcard – Viewpoint Rin Nai Beach – Koh Phangan – Thailand (TH-221030)

Chada send me this card today. It didn’t have much text, but it had a lot of meaning!

ALWAYS DO WHAT YOU ARE AFRAID TO DO !

That made me think what scares me the most. It’s to travel with my love. To go to Koh Phangan for a month, to go to Panama for another month, to go to the Bahamas for a month too and on and on. To don’t have a permanent job, but be excited about freelance work every single day. To listen to people’s memories from different countries and gather stories so I can tell them to my grandchildren. Do stuff that no one ever did before and be happy with so little. Enjoy life and every single moment I spend in a different country. That scares me so much. And that’s why I know it’s the right thing to do.
