Pencil art

One of the reasons why postcrossing is amazing!

US-3890452, from Tim. This is one of the best cards I got. It is “Boot” from Dalton M. Ghetti. That’s a boot carved out of the actual graphite of a carpenter’s pencil tip, using only a jeweler’s file, razor blade and a sewing needle, without the use of a magnifying glass. The piece took approximately 1 1/2 years to complete. It was finished in April 1996.

I love it so much! Thank you Tim!

Fun fact about the candy apple

image

Thanks to Vicki and postcrossing (ID: US-3860417), I got this amazing card! It is the third one from the “Fun Facts”  collection, and this time it’s about the candy apple.

I love candy apples!

And the candy apple was created in 1908 by William Kolb as an experimental window display at his confectionery store in Newark, New Jersey. The apples sold for 5 cents each and quickly became a hit.

Do you want candy apples?

The Statue of Mercury – New York

US ljsweenes Statue of Mercury

Dear /u/ljsweenes,

I love this card! It shows New York in a totally different perspective. I have seen a lot of pictures, but I never seen this type of picture, and I love it! I think it is so unique and special, and such a small group of people would probably notice this in such perspective. Most of the people would probably pass by it.

I wish you all the best,

My First Postcard From Postcrossing

Postcard from the USA – Texas Longhorn fun fact, United States of America

This postcard is the first one I received from Postcrossing. It is, in particular, from the United States of America and I received it on 19.10.2015. The person wrote it on 30.09.2015 with a lot of kind words and best wishes. This postcard has a special bond to my heart specifically because it is the first one I have from Postcrossing, and the first one from the USA as well. Fun fact: ,,The Texas Longhorn steer’s horns can measure over 9 feet (2.7 meters) from tip to tip. This is the widest horn span in the bovine world!” So far, I really love Postcrossing, and I think that I will keep sending postcards, so I can receive more amazing postcards from all over the world. How amazing is that, right?
